Altair’s Cat-4 150 Mbps LTE Chipset Achieves Verizon Wireless Chipset Certification

Newest Chipset Certification Extends Single Mode LTE Market Leadership

HOD HASHARON, Israel – Dec 22, 2014 – Altair Semiconductor, the world’s leading developer of ultra-low power, small footprint and high performance 4G LTE chipsets, today announced that its FourGee-3800/6300 Category 4 chipset has successfully  achieved Verizon Wireless chipset certification. The certification accelerates time to market for Altair customers integrating the chipset into their devices by significantly reducing the amount of testing required pre-launch.

The FourGee-3800/6300 is the successor of the Category 3 FourGee-3100/6200 chipset, which shipped in millions of devices to date, including the Verizon Ellipsis 7 tablet, the HP Chromebook 11” LTE, and the ASUS Chromebook 13.3” LTE.

“This Verizon Wireless certification of our newest chipset is an important milestone in our market expansion strategy,” said Eran Eshed, Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Altair Semiconductor. “It provides our existing customers a smooth migration path to faster and more advanced LTE technology, maintaining the level of maturity and ease of integration they are accustomed to.”

Altair’s FourGee-3800/6300 chipset features state of the art modem performance with download speeds of 150Mbps and upload speeds of 50Mbps, and supports advanced features such as VoLTE and eMBMS. The chipset is already designed into multiple modules and end user devices and is deployed commercially in leading carrier markets.

Verizon Wireless operates the world’s largest 4G LTE wireless network, available in more than 500 U.S. markets. It is the latest carrier to certify this chipset, joining leading carriers in Japan, Europe, India, and other key markets.
