Altair Semiconductor, a company specializing in single-mode LTE solutions, is partnering with BEC Technologies, the North American subsidiary of Billion Electric Co. and a provider of advanced broadband Customer Premise Equipment solutions. BEC will embed Altair’s single-mode LTE chipsets in a wide range of routers, gateways, industrial machine to machine (M2M) and public safety wireless devices.

“We are pleased to partner with BEC and provide the LTE connectivity solution to its diverse product line,” Eran Eshed, co-founder and vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Altair, said in a statement.

BEC develops and markets an extensive portfolio of broadband CPEs integrating 3G, 4G/LTE, xDSL, VoIP, PON, Active Ethernet, HomePlug AV, HPNA, Wi-Fi, centralized management system, rugged industrial Ethernet and smart grid technologies. Altair’s technology will now enable BEC to provide broadband wireless connectivity to customers even in low LTE coverage rural areas.

Cost and energy-effective single-mode LTE solutions are used for applications in various wireless communication devices. BEC is uniquely positioned to now offer superior multiband LTE routers, gateways and M2M devices to a large base of service providers, across North America.

“We are pleased to announce that Altair is now our primary LTE chipset provider,” said Andy Germano, co-founder and vice president of Business Development at BEC Technologies.

Germano also clarified that BEC selected Altair primarily because of its product maturity and wide range of band support in both TDD and FDD bands. The company also believes that Altair’s unique modem implementation will allow for more robust connectivity and spectrum utilization even when a large distance exists between cell sites.

“This answers a critical need for many of our service providers and their customers,” stated Germano.
