About XGP
XGP (eXtended Global Platform) is mobile broadband technology conceived and standardized in Japan by the XGP Forum, and is aimed at providing broadband access connectivity on the move in a high capacity network topology.  XGP employs OFDM modulation on the downlink and SC-FDMA (Single Carrier Frequency Domain Multiple Access) modulation in the uplink, and is designed for both micro-cell (in dense urban areas) as well as macro-cell operation (in rural areas).

XGP has been adopted by Willcom in Japan, and will commence commercial service in October of 2009.
